Dear Whitehead Families,

Happy new school year to each of our Whitehead Elementary School families! It is with great pleasure and anticipation, that I welcome all of the new and returning families to Whitehead Elementary School. I am very proud of the educational programs that we will be offering this school year. Our teachers have been working collaboratively and diligently in creating a rigorous and coherent instructional program where children engage in the core content areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science. Moreover, students receive instruction in physical education, music, art, and technology. In addition to the academic programs, our school will continue to implement Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) to develop social/emotional instruction in regards to respect, responsibility, and safety. In addition to the classroom programs, we will be providing a wide variety of enrichment opportunities this year. These offerings include the After-School Achievement Program, Chess Club, REBA Basketball, Student Council, and Safety Patrol to name a few. Our school community is dedicated to the development of the whole child and works tirelessly to ensure all students are successful. Whitehead Elementary School is an innovative school that is steadfast in meeting the needs of all students.

While we are proud of our academic program this year, we also pride ourselves in the sense of community at Whitehead Elementary School. Parent and community involvement is paramount to the success of our school children. Our goal is to increase parent communication, participation, and voice.  We encourage you to become involved in your child’s education through volunteering in the classroom, attending PTO meetings, and participating in school-wide events and celebrations. Research clearly supports that parent/guardian participation in their child’s education coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success of the child. Education is the collective responsibility of the school, students, parents, and community. As we begin the school year, I would like to share some important information with you to ensure a great beginning to the school year.

We look forward to a great year! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments.

Sincerely,
